Picked up a pair of early headlights today. These are date coded January '57 so a little newer than my bus but correct for busses from 53-60 so a good score and a reasonable price too. Big thanks to @Choco for putting me on to these. One bulb holder is missing but nothing that cannot be easily sourced.
I also found a good source for glass rear lenses - a fella from Germany who appears to have a whole bunch of rare and hard-to-get lenses for German cars. I also found a good source for glass rear lenses - a fella from Germany who appears to have a whole bunch of rare and hard-to-get lenses for German cars. He has red third brake light lenses and stop / tail light lenses in stock. Will have to replace the cracked ones that I have at some point.Post is under moderationStream item published successfully. Went down to visit the bus at the shop today now that its back from the blasters. The bus is having the tinworm fixed up by Cooper Pratt. He's cut the sills out and most of the front cab and has started collecting the necessary panels to make it solid again. He also spent some time reshaping the rear corners which had been pretty bashed around.

Overall the bus is not too bad, no real surprises, just the usual rot in the usual places. The cargo area floor is salvageable albeit a little bashed up, which is good. It's come up surprisingly well from the blasting, I was almost expecting it to dissolve but it's solid enough to leave as-is with some small areas to repair.
I'm pretty stoked to see some progress on the bus after its sat in my driveway unloved for the past 8 years. Things are finally starting to take shape, Who knows, it might even make it back on the road in 2021.Post is under moderationStream item published successfully. Been contemplating what to do with the rear brakes on the speedster. It has an older rear disc conversion but looks incomplete. I have some 944 trailing arms in the parts bin that I bought for my Ghia about 20 years ago but they add about an inch to the rear track. It looks like there's enough space between the arch and wheel to fit them, but that's on the Lemmertz wheels, which I'm planning to change out. I'm not sure what the offset is on the other wheels I'm planning to fit. Guess I need...Been contemplating what to do with the rear brakes on the speedster. Sectioning the rear panels is one solution to gain an extra inch or two. Not sure if I'm brave enough for that. Also not sure how good it would look on a speedster. Looks pretty good on the coupe, but then the lines are a lot different.
MIght just have to try and fix up the brakes that are on there and experiment with this after it's up and running. After all it's not like I don;t have enough to do with the rest of the carPost is under moderationStream item published successfully. Item will now be visible on your stream. -
Made a start on modifying my steering column. Need to take some photos.

Apologies from the crappy photos It's hard to take a decent picture of the horn push as no matter how you light it and what camera angle you use, it always has a bright reflections in it. (I even used reflected diffused light for the above shot).
