Zagato has chosen to retrace and reproduce a few of its early designs under a program it calls Sanction Lost. Petrolicious founder and CEO Afshin Behnia recently became an owner of one of these limited-run cars: the Porsche 356 Carrera Speedster Zagato featured in today’s film.

This car was born on 05/03/1955 with chassis number 80510 and was delivered in this signal red with a cream/Black Acella Bast Leatherette interior. Besides the headlights and the changed dashboard gages panel, this car should be completely original and it really looked accordingly. The car was bought in 1962 for $1642 and the previous owner drove it in 4 American states up until 1985. Then it was put away in a barn until 2014. If I am not mistaken the crankshaft bearings of these cars could not handle use on tracks and races and probably that explanes why the car had its engine rebuilt in 1965.

This rare 1956 Porsche 356a Speedster was stored inside a dry garaged since 1972. Dusty Cars purchased this car from its long-term owner; we then re-assembled it and brought it back in running condition.
