to be honest this is kind of just showing off, but i do love my books, even if most of them are in rough condition.

"tuning volkswagens" was the first period tuning book i got way back when i first got into vw's. a friend gave me the "how to hotrod" and "baha prepping" books (yeah a good friend). the catalogues on the LHS all came recently from my foray into ignition parts. the truehaft catalogue is nothing really interesting... early 80's, there are still a few parts in there i'd like to have. the volkswagen handbook has heaps of cool early 60's articles inc one on the devin d, prob my favorate kit/sports car based on a vw. the idiots manual is a 1st english (UK) edition circa '71/2 that i got off e.bay rather cheap. it is interesting, virtually all of the drawings are different from those in the 90's editions. much simpler, but still well drawn. the drawings aren't credited to peter aschwanden, i wonder if he still drew them but was going by a "hippie name" as the artists name is a little far out. there are two ring-ins on the top right. how to make your car handle is brilliant (sp) book and the compitition driving is interesting as well. i think my driving may have improved since i read it as now i try to drive like i'm racing through every corner... except at normal speeds. aka get the braking done with before turning in, trying to hit the apex tight every time and rolling on the power on the way out. i don't have the super reflexes of a top race driver but it makes day to day driving more interesting.

i still want "souping the volkswagen" and the other one i think it's called "making the volkswagen go" but i can't be certain... it's late. a later copy of tuning volkswagens would be nice as i think it was changed to keep it up to date. i also would like another copy of the "how to hotrod" book as that copy has been read so many times now it is starting to fall apart.

Daisy is....
