Just checked in after getting back from Speedweek. The event was awesome as usual, a few familiar faces there as well as some new ones too. Unfortunately Mark Hollyoaks - last years Beetle entry did not attend this year - I was looking forward to seeing him run after blowing a gearbox last year.Steve Muller attended with his crew - they were running a Stone Stock 36hp Oval and a 2.3 Type 1 Ghia.Greg Mackee set a best of 75.1mph in the oval - faster than the current Stone Stock 36hp challenge record, but it looks like the speed will not be recognised as a new record at it was run on the GPS course - and not on the long (timed) course.Steve Muller ran a best of 127.5 mph in the Ghia - a pretty remarkable speed considering that he was running a stock GT box.As Marks entry last year was the first VW to be run, Steves 127.5 mph time makes him the fastest Aircooled VW in Australia.Well done Steve.
