What got you into VW's?
Hi everyone, I thought I would start a post on What got you into VW's?
I'll start, well my uncle bought a really nice 58 beetle a few years back, that basically got me started, after that I started searching photos of VW's on the Internet, not long after that I realised I was hooked.

Oddly enough my first car was a mini, I had a choice between the mini or a bug - and chose the mini
I guess I first got hooked on VW's as a couple of my mates had them. I'd always been into old cars, but used to really dig cruising about in my mates splitty or my other mates squareback. I'm a skater and so VW's and skating went hand in hand. Cruising up to a skate spot in an old splitty, is just so damn cool. plus you can make lunch / tea / out / peace / and lots of other groovy stuff in the back.
Then me and another mate of mine clubbed together and bought a Westphalia and lived in it for a year whilst we toured around Europe. It was a one owner, 32,000 miles, full service history perfect white over green westy that we paid a mere 1500 quid for. It was great, and you could make cups of tea at 60mph all day long - that's when I knew I was hooked.
It was the same trip that I first saw a Type 34 Karmann Ghia, at a local VW club meet in Paris, that's when I became obsessed - LOL
Happy Daze.
