Did you try giving the box a clean out and fresh oil?

Flushed through, drained and refilled. Makes a really noticable whine under load. There were some pretty big chuncks in the sump.

Does the whine keep rising in pitch as you go faster or does it drop in pitch when you change gear?

Haven't had it out much further than the driveway mate.
